Merdeka 118
Merdeka 118 is a 118-storey, megatall skyscraper currently under construction in Kuala Lumpur. Merdeka 118 tower has 'topped out' on June 8, 2021 at 644m (2,112.8ft), by reaching the final roof slab at its peak of Level 118. Following the completion of its spire the tower officially stands at a height of 678.9m (2,112.8feet). Only the Burj Khalifa (830m) in Dubai stands taller. Merdeka 118 currently stands as the tallest building in Malaysia and Asia, and second tallest in the world.
The tower covers over 3 million square feet of floor area, comprising 1.66 million square feet of net lettable area (NLA) of Grade-A office space and approximately 1 million square feet of retail space. A number of outstanding features have been incorporated into the tower including 'The View at 118' Observation Deck, which will be the highest in Southeast Asia as well as the first and only Park Hyatt Hotel in Malaysia, occupying the top 17 floors of the tower. Seamlessly connected to the tower are exciting retail opportunities at '118 Mall' surrounded by 4-acres of greenery and open spaces for the community to enjoy in ‘Merdeka Boulevard at 118’ park as well as three premium residential towers encircling the office tower. The non-rentable space consists of elevators, recreational and maintenance facilities, as well as parking spaces for up to 8,500 cars.
The tower is sited at Petaling Hill, a low-density hill directly southeast of the historic Kuala Lumpur old town, on the location of the former Merdeka Park. The site lies within the vicinity of a number of historic landmarks with little modern development: Independence-era sporting venues including the Merdeka Stadium, the National Stadium, the Chin Woo Stadium and the pre-war school grounds of the Methodist Boys' School and Victoria Institution.
