Geocache Description:

I stumbled across this unique location while out and about exploring the countryside on a rainy afternoon. I couldn't be more surprised to see what you are about to see! I did some research and found that this sculpture was created by August Herwede. August was inspired by 1964's New York World's Fair Dinoland and decided to make his own Brontosaurus sculpture here. Most unfortunately, he fell from scaffolding while working on this dinosaur in 1967 and then died. Very sad to be sure, this piece of art is like an unfinished symphony or a movie script with no ending. However, now all kinds of interested people, like us geocachers, will appreciate what he was doing here. I hope that this virtual geocache will help memorialize his artistic spirit. In order to log this cache, you may do one of two things: A) Take a picture of yourself and the scuplture and post it here, or privately to the cache owner. B) If you don't want to post a picture of yourself with the dinosaur, you may alternatively take a picture of a piece of paper with your geocaching username and date written on it, with the sculpture in the background. If neither one of these has been submitted, your log will be deleted. I sincerely hope you enjoy coming here just as much as I enjoyed discovering this place and putting my Virtual Reward 2.0 here! Happy caching!
