Geocache Description:

Located on the concrete 'deck' of the old and earthquake damaged Taylors Mistake Surf Lifesaving Club. The club is still very active and uses a group of Port-a-coms for its day to day functions now. A few boats are stored in the old building, that used to be quite a party venue years ago!

The story/myth behind the unusual name for this popular surfing beach is recorded in New Zealand history as.... Cove nestled in on the south side of Sumner Head, south-east of Christchurch city. The bay is a seaside and picnic resort. Who Taylor was and when he made his mistake remains unclear. The name was current from at least 1853, and is commonly held to refer to a ship's captain who mistook the bay for Lyttelton Harbour.

The prime candidate is the Gwalior, which was shepherded to Lyttelton in 1853 by the first mate Mr Taylor after Captain Davidson had thrown himself overboard in an alcoholic fit. (Perhaps this is why it was and still is a popular party beach in the summer?

So, to log the cache, please complete the following tasks. The first two must be sent to the cache owner, the third can be posted with your log. You can log before sending the answers, but if the answers are not correct, or do not arrive within 24 hours I will delete the Found Log.
1. On the monument near GZ, how many club members were involved in the First World War (1914-1919)?
2. How many club members were involved in the Second World War (1939-1945)?
3. Take a photo of the beach and waves from gz similar to the one posted, with the monument in the shot.Upload the photo with your log. Bonus smiles from me if you catch somebody on a wave!!
Given the requirement for the beach/wave shot, it is not available at night. Have fun!
