Geocache Description:

>> Please read the listing fully and CARE-fully - <<
>> if logging requirements are not met, your log will be deleted <<

When I received word that I was one of the lucky people chosen to place a new virtual cache I was in the middle of the preparations of my move back to Germany. Where should I place this cache - Ireland or Germany? In the end the decision was easy. I started geocaching while living in Ireland and most of my caches found so far are Irish ones.

So this one's to you, you icklelegos, Blue Jays, Bohstoms, daraconns, theswerves, GafferGamgees, Donnachas, Arinagours, GerLors, buachaills, Wa was, Toffee Mans, TucKids, BigMcks, CachePints, The_Chris...! Thanks to you all (and to everybody I forgot in this list) for a great start into this new addiction.

This cache takes you to the most south-westerly corner of this beautiful island, where an old lighthouse sitting on the clifftop awaits you. In order to log this Virtual Cache as a find, you will have to do the following: - Send the answers to a few questions to me. - Post a picture taken at the cache location with your log. (... i.e. at the point closest to GZ within the railings. DO NOT climb over any railings to take your picture)

1) Close to the Visitor Centre in a corner of the car park you find the salvaged propeller of a ship. What is the ship's name? (For the duration of the construction works there, please check the exhibition in the visitors' centre for your correct answer!)

2) On the walk dow to the bridge you will find a small spot dedicated to the construction of Fastnet Lighthouse located nine miles off shore. In the ground you can see a cross-section of the lighthouse's foundation. How many individual blocks make up this cross-section?

3) Reaching the Bridge you will see a big metal gate. Overhead you will see two words. Note the two duplicate letters in the order of their appearance.

4) Beside the buildings you will find a bell turned upside down. Note the year engraved on the bell as well as the first letter of the town.

5) In the keepers' quarters you will find a lighthouse keeper having breakfast. Note the number of eggs s well as the number of slices of pudding

Now add up all answers and use the result as the subject line (e.g. Titanic58XY2019F99) of an email to dubliniusgeocaching@gmail.com and include your cacher name in the body of the email. If your answers are correct, you will receive your logging permission within a few minutes. If you do not receive an email, your answer was incorrect. If you encounter any problems you can contact me via private message. If you enjoyed this virtual cache, please feel free to show your appreciation in your log story or through a favourite point.

Please note: Access to Mizen head is through the Visitor Centre only, an entrance fee does apply. Please find details of the fee and the opening times on their website.
