Geocache Description:

Welcome to White Cliffs Country!

This new pier is part of the redevelopment of the Western Docks and was opened in May 2019. It is over 500 meters long, and gives an outstanding view of the breath taking White Cliffs and the busy ferry terminal below.

A seating area at the end (with no arcades or gift shops for distraction) allows you to sit and enjoy the wonder and magic of this iconic landmark, which was recently voted in the top 10 of Britians Greatest National Treasures (2019). Dover Castle sits high on the cliffs and is the largest castle in England.

The White Cliffs

The cliff face at its highest reaches 350ft (110m) and and gets its name and appearance due to its make up of chalk and black flint. On a clear day they are visible from the French Coast. The cliffs have been in the care of the National Trust since 2016.

Dover Castle

Dover castle was founded in the 11th century and has been described as the "Key to England" due to its defensive significance throughout history. it is managed and cared for by English Heritage

Logging Requirements

1)To log this Virtual you must visit the posted coordinates. Take a picture of yourself at the end of the pier with the White Cliffs in the background (see my example in the gallery). You do not need to show your face! If you are shy a piece of paper with you caching name and the cliffs in the background will be fine (but I must be able to read your name so a marker pen is advised)!

2)Send the answers to the following 3 question (using the geocaching messenger or via email using my profile above) DO NOT POST THE ANSWERS IN YOUR LOG. As this could result in your log being deleted.

a)The number of benches in the seating area at the end of the pier

b)The number of panes of glass that make up the seating area

c)The number of rubber covered bolts that hold the navigation light to the ground

*there is no fee to walk the pier!! and its not that far... it is 100% dog/pushchair/wheelchair accessible, but please keep dogs and small children under close supervision at all times as you are walking out to sea... opening times are posted in the gallery.
