Snap a few pictures while you're here! Black Hawk Creek Wildlife Area is a great place for a hike, and boasts two trails. The main trail is the mowed Conservation Trail, which leads to the other cache here. This bridge takes you over to the Woodland Nature Trail, which is not as maintained but does have signs labeling the types of trees which is neat. After you cross, your journey is nearly over. Not too far from parking area, may be a hike in the winter though as the access road is not plowed.
Welcome to Black Hawk Creek Wildlife Area!
This is a 53-acre area containing native grass seedlings, tree & shrub plantings, and wildlife food plots. The woodland trail has had extensive spring wildflower plantings and is a lovely area to walk in late April and May. Many different tree species are labeled to aid in identification. Facilities include hiking and self-guided nature trails (with a suspension bridge across Black Hawk Creek), an outdoor classroom, and toilets. Hunting is permitted for pheasant, cottontail rabbit, and gray partridge.
