Since there is an adjacent picnic area, hunting is not allowed in the immediate vicinity of the falls. However, it is always a good idea to wear orange during hunting season

DO WATERFALLS MOVE?

Some waterfalls were formed when water rushed down a hillside consisting of a harder top layer of rock and softer underlayer. The hydraulic action and abrasion (river stones and other particles carried by the current rubbing against the bottom) caused the softer layer to be eroded and carried away downstream. As the erosion increased a step was formed between the two rock layers and a plunge pool was formed at the base of the falling water. As time passed, the softer layer was eroded enough to cause an unstable rock overhang (also called the crest) to drop into the plunge pool due to lack of support. As the cycle repeats itself, the waterfall retreats upstream.
