Church Micro 352... Orsett
Placed by Willett Family, Congrats to VangeRover for the FTF!
Saint Giles And All Saints Church has been in existance since the 11th century, and currently stands as a Grade I listed building. It is of medieval origin, and has been built upon since its original construction. Take your first steps into the church and, in the porchway, to the right of the door, there is evidence of three ancient scratch sundials thought to date all the way back to the church's construction. The church suffered a fire in July 1926 which required a major restoration of the roofs which were ironically being re-built at the time of the fire. The church is at the heart of the village, and a 24/7 car park is located very nearby, with the village also home to various pubs and restaurants.
Cache placed with the kind permission and support of Revd Sue Mann, representing The United Churches Of Orsett, Bulphan And Horndon On The Hill.
