The small town of Jerome gained a substantial number of Rusyn residents in 1906. Many of them came from villages such as Zavala, Smulnyk, and Hrabova Rostoka just to name a few. The local community included those residents in nearby towns and coal patches like Hiyasota, Blough, Maple Ridge, and Hollsopple. These immigrants joined with the much larger group in Jerome to establish Saints Peter & Paul Greek Catholic Church there in 1913. Today, the Parish still exists but services are only held occasionally. The Parish Cemetery is clustered with several other Catholic, Protestant, and Orthodox Cemeteries. Saints Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Cemetery....aka Union Greek Cemetery....sits at the top of the hill and has both new and old stones, many of which are inscribed in Rusyn. Check out the Veteran markers that range through several wars and conflicts and if you have time roam through St. Ann’s...aka Holy Cross...Cemetery at the bottom of the hill.
You’re looking for a medium lock n lock hidden out of the way with plenty of room for some swag. As always, be respectful of your surroundings, watch for muggles, and no caching after dusk.
Congrats to beans & franks for first to find!!!!!!!!!!!
