It was in the town of Walhalla that FUF009 and I caught up and started reminiscing about our mis-spent youth growing up in the town of St Arnaud. He had come up with the idea for this wherigo and I absolutely loved it, so after a bit of messaging back and forth, this is what we came up with.
It’s a simple wherigo that demonstrates exactly how to be cool as a young person in St Arnaud (at least it was when we were young, the youth these days might be different). Imagine FUF009 in his Ford and me (day1976) in my 69 HT Holden (Belmont of course) driving up and down the main street a few times before heading out to an undisclosed location to park for a little while with a few other P platers. Now that’s how to be cool!
That’s exactly what you will need to do to complete this wherigo.
Like many other main streets of smaller country towns, St Arnaud has a north roundabout (marked by stage 2 of this cache listing) and it has a south roundabout (the posted co-ordinates for this cache). What you need to do is simple. Download this cartridge and begin running it, jump in your car (p plates are optional) start at the northern roundabout and head to the southern round about, do a u turn and head back up the main street. When you arrive back at the northern round about you will have cut 1 lap of the main street of St Arnaud. But one lap is not enough, some of the younger kids who don’t have a licence yet may not have spotted you, so you will need to do it again. But twice won’t be enough either, some of the chicks may not have spotted you and your immaculate rusty old ride. You will need to complete this circuit a total of 5 times to ensure that most of the town realizes how cool you really are.
Once you have completed the circuit 5 times you will be given the location of a secret parking area that P platers like to hang out (or they did, these days they probably all have jobs or are going to uni or something). Head off to the parking area and park your car. But you will need to be patient, things move slowly around here. You will need to wait at this location for 3 minutes, if you’re lucky you might find some others at this location and you can talk about how fully sick your car is with them.
Once your 3 minutes is up, your adventure to the old days of St Arnaud is finished and the cartridge will bring you back to the modern times by giving you the final co-ordinates of this geocache. Make sure you take a screen shot of this screen, so you have a record of where to find the cache.
We hope you enjoy this adventure as much as we did making and testing it.
