Geocache Description:

This geocache is one of the many superhero caches placed as part of the 2019 West Bend Cache Ba$h. This cache highlights the character of SUPERMAN.

THE CACHE IS NOT LOCATED AT THE POSTED COORDINATES. The coordinates shown are for the location of the first waypoint of this two-stage field puzzle. You'll need to visit stage one to determine the coordinates for the final stage. It's an easy puzzle but a geochecker is provided below.

THE CACHE

The coordinates will take you along the paved path, near where you will see hand shapes painted on the pavement. From here you have a sweeping view of the park, which includes a playground, a large wood picnic shelter, swings, picnic areas, softball field, soccer field, Born Learning Trail, basketball court, and open playfield areas. The trails in this park wind through both prairie and wooded areas. Head over to the starting coordinates (there isn’t a physical container there; stay on the path) to get the numbers needed to solve this puzzle:

N 43° 26.ABC W 88° 13.DEF

A = Number of six-sided GaGa ball pits

B = Number of blue cars

C = Number of play tunnels at the playground (including the tunnel slide)

D = Number of vertical wood legs/posts at picnic shelter

E = Number of stationary yellow benches PLUS 3

F = Number of blue legs holding up the swingset MINUS 1

"Faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive… The Man of Steel fights a never-ending battle for truth, justice, and the American way."

From his blue uniform to his flowing red cape to the "S" shield on his chest, Superman is one of the most immediately recognizable and beloved superheroes of all time. The Man of Steel is the ultimate symbol of truth, justice, and hope. He is the world's best known superhero and a guiding light to all.

Superman has represented "truth, justice and the American way" ever since he first appeared in Action Comics #1 in 1938. The last survivor of the doomed planet Krypton, raised in the quiet heartland of Smallville, Kansas, Superman is as much a legend as he is a man: the gold standard of heroism, compassion and responsibility.

Though his powers make him god-like next to his human compatriots, Superman's story is not one of greed, conquest, or darkness. Instead, he strives to represent the inherent goodness of the human spirit, and the capacity of every living thing to do right by their neighbors.

Superman is often thought of as the first superhero. This point is debated by historians: there are lesser known characters that arguably fit the definition of the superhero yet predate Superman. Nevertheless, Superman popularized the genre and established its conventions: a costume, a secret identity, extraordinary abilities, and an altruistic mission. Superman's story that began over eight decades ago continues to this day.
