The community garden at Montefiore neighborhood is operating since September 2016. With the support of Tel Aviv Jaffa municipality, we are a group of local community volunteers nurturing the garden plot. Each year there are 2-3 planting events for summer and winter vegetables and plants and flowers to attract bees and butterflies. The south and eastern corners of the garden are dedicated to local multi-seasonal herbs that can be used to spice both drinks and food. The garden is a focal point for community activities and is regularly attended by visitors who take a break or eat lunch surrounded by its greenery. In the afternoon, local kids visit the garden looking for butterflies and beetles, collect herbs and enjoy a moment of nature in the midst of the busy city. The square plots are shared and contain 2-3 species each. Until recreated as a garden in 2016, the plot was severely neglected and was used mainly by dogs without supervision.
הגינה הקהילתית של שכונת מונטיפיורי פועלת מאז ספטמבר 2016. בתמיכת עיריית תל אביב יפו, קבוצת פעילים ופעילות מהשכונה מטפחת את שטח הגינה. מדי שנה מתקיימים 2-3 אירועי שתילה של ירקות קיץ וחורף וכן של פרחים מושכי דבורים ופרפרים. בנוסף, הפינה הצפונית והמזרחית של הגינה מוקדשות למגוון צמחי תבלין רב עונתיים בהם ניתן להשתמש לתיבול משקאות ומאכלים. הגינה מהווה מוקד פעילות ואורחים ומבקרים נוהגים לשבת בה לארוחת צהריים או מנוחה קלה. בשעות אחר הצהריים ילדי השכונה מגיעים לבקר בגינה ולחפש פרפרים וחיפושיות, לקטוף תבלינים ועוד. הערוגות בגינה משותפות ומכילות צמחים מסוגים שונים (2-3 גידולים בכל ערוגה). עד הקמת הגינה, השטח היה מוזנח ושימש בגינת כלבים מאולתרת ללא פיקוח.
