Geocache Description:

This cache is inspired by an old (apparently archived) Pennsylvania geocache that I came across in one of my web searches. The theme of the original cache was the 13 Colonies.

THE CACHE IS AT THE POSTED COORDINATES. THE KEY IS NOT!

With the help of leafyseadragon, this is the second Qi's to the Cache that is being placed. It is located in Turlock Lake State Recreation Area. There is free parking near bathrooms for a stay of less than an hour. The cost of a day pass is $12. The first Qi's to the Cache was placed just outside Davis, California. The same key will open both caches. I anticipate hiding a third in this series near Ventura or Santa Barbara.

Concurrent with the publication of this cache, leafyseadragon is placing 5 Qi’s (I mean keys) attached to Travel Bugs in different geocaches in the Turlock area. This will bring the total of circulating Qi's to 15. In order to open the cache and log a find, you must acquire one of the keys.

Since I’m a big believer in having TBs travel around the world, and also for encouraging interactions between geocachers, I am adding some collaborative options.

Hand-to-Hand" If you live more than 200 miles from Davis you may pass the key to somebody heading here and claim the find when that person logs the cache. I’ll make it even easier. If the person you hand it to hands it to a third geocacher who logs the find, you too can claim the find. I'm afraid that after one more handoff that you're out of luck.

Cache at a Distance: If you live more than 1000 miles from Davis you are welcome to post a note on the cache page saying you have a key and are willing to mail it to a local geocacher. Similarly, local geocachers, or geocachers heading to this area may contact a key holder who is located more than 1000 miles from Davis and offer to log the cache if the holder sends them the key. I’ll leave the details to the parties involved. Of course both the sender and signer may log a find.

Duplicating keys: You are welcome to duplicate the key to the lock, but unless the new key is attached to a travel bug, only you may use the key to open and log the cache. Anybody interested in spreading keys is welcome to duplicate the key, attach it to a Trackable and send it on its way. If you do this, please contact me with the "reference number" or tracking code so I can post a link on all relevant Cache Page.

Duplicating the lock: If you think this cache is a great idea and would like to place a cache that uses the same key, please feel free to contact me. I'll help you acquire a lock compatible with Qi's key.
