Race Up Mt. Eden! Wherigo Cache

This cache has been archived.

nzseries1: As sad as it is to archive this, they removed the compass / direction plate thing at the top of Mt Eden, and there isn't really a replacement suitable to prove that the finder has actually reached the summit. So I can't really fix this in a way that remains true to the original cache.
They're still doing renovation and building work at the summit so perhaps once that's done I may be able to do a similar cache in the future depending on what they put up there.

Geocache Description:

Ok... so I've been told* by some people that they wanted to do the nearby Mt. Eden Gut Buster Tour (GC594X1), but 12 stages is just a few too many.  Basically they want to get some exercise, but don't have that much time or energy!  If that's you... then read on!!!!!!

  1. Download the Wherigo cartridge from this location, and run it
  2. Head to the start line, by the drinking fountain and toilets in the Tahaki Reserve playground

Your task is then to get to the top of Mt. Eden in 13 minutes or less!  I don't care how you do it...
JUST DO IT!

And then find the nearby cache and sign the log to prove you did it! Note - the Wherigo cartridge will tell you that you need to get some information from the top of Mt. Eden immediately after, so take a pen!

Some methods of transportation:

FTF: Gorbygorbachov
2TF: Aiden29
3TF: Bennett24 & Tinytree

NOTES:
  • Please run the Wherigo cartridge before getting to the start line.
  • Please ensure you have the latest version - currently 3.3.
  • The race is officially underway when your inventory says "GO! GO! GO!" and your task is "Get to the finish line!". If your task is "Get to the start line", then you need to go to the start first.
  • The inspiration came from this cache which I did in London in 2016: A Sprint not a Marathon.
  • This is my first Wherigo cache - feedback is most certainly welcomed. It would be extra helpful if you could comment on which device you used and whether or not you experienced any problems. It has been tested by me extensively on an Android smartphone using WhereYouGo, and also on both an iPhone 5 and iPad using WherIGo.
