To tu, na Popławach, 16 maja 1807 roku, podczas wojny francusko-rosyjskiej doszło do bitwy między wojskami bawarskimi (sojusznikiem Napoleona) a rosyjskimi. Żołnierze rosyjscy pod dowództwem generała Nikołaja Tuczkowa ulegli wojskom bawarskim pod wodzą Ludwika Bawarskiego. W wyniku walk zginęło 15 Bawarczyków i 300 Rosjan. Dwóch oficerów francuskich zostało pochowanych w pułtuskiej kolegiacie, gdzie do dziś spoczywają.

Z miejscem związana jest jeszcze jedna historia, na przełomie lat 40 i 50-tych XX w. funkcjonariusze Powiatowego Urzędu Bezpieczeństwa Publicznego potajemnie grzebali tu zabitych ludzi.
It was here, in Popławach, on May 16, 1807, that during the Franco-Russian war a battle took place between the Bavarian forces (Napoleon's ally) and the Russian ones. Russian soldiers under the command of General Nikolai Tuczkov succumbed to the Bavarian army under Ludwik of Bavaria. As a result of the fights 15 Bavarians and 300 Russians were killed. Two French officers were buried in the Pułtusk collegiate, where they are still resting today.

One more story is connected with the place, at the turn of the 1940s and 1950s, officers of the Poviat Public Security Office secretly buried dead people here.
