THE ALIENS HAVE LANDED

This cache marks an unusual location, one that has been the subject of a local urban legend decades old. 
 

Long ago, it is said that eerie flashing lights could be seen one night hovering just above the hill to the north-east on the same side of the road where you are standing (left along the fence-line and up).  Animals and livestock were spooked by strange sounds that could not be identified. The next morning, the owners went out to check and discovered that a large definitive'X' shape had been scorched into the ground and all of the grass on the hilltop was burned away. 
 

It never grew back, and you can still see the white sandy patch there marking the spot where aliens took a moment to land and enjoy the view along highway 5.
 

I remember hearing this story from friends in school, and others claim that their parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles have shared this story for years.  Respect the fences, but hike up the ditch from the pull-out to have a closer look and make up your own mind about what happened that night. 
 

If you pull in to do a little caching and find that you've lost time that can't be accounted for, or that the electronics in your car suddenly fuzz out, keep your cool and take some photos.  Post them here.  At least we'll have a record of your last known whereabouts....
