Resti di un pezzo dell'antico acquedotto storico di Genova.

Prima di essere inglobato dall'acquedotto e poi dagli edifici il varco era una porta minore delle mura del Barbarossa (XII secolo), Portello di Pastorezza, è possibile ancora vedere l'arco in pietre.

L'edificio sopra il "tunnel" anticamente era un mulino che sfruttava l'acqua portata dall'acquedotto per movimentare le macine.

Da qui anche il nome della piazza "Dietro i forni".

ATTENZIONE: Se usate Google Maps per raggiungere la cache, non prendete "Salita della Rondinella", è chiusa da cancelli quasi sempre chiusi e rischiate di dover ritornare indietro. Prendete la salita di San Francesco che parte da piazza della Meridiana.

Remains of a section of the ancient aqueduct of Genoa.

Before being engulfed by the aqueduct and then the buildings, the gateway was a minor gate in the Barbarossa city walls (12th century), Portello di Pastorezza, the stone arch can still be seen.
The building above the tunnel was a water mill moved by the water from the aqueduct.
From here the name of the square, "Piazza dietro i forni"( square behind the ovens).

ATTENTION: If you are using the navigator to reach the cache, DON'T take "Salita della Rondinella", it is a closed road, and you could get forced to return. Instead, take Salita San Francesco from Piazza della Meridiana.
