Prima di percorrere il sentiero naturalistico informarsi sulla sua percorribilità presso la locale sede del CAI, l'ufficio di informazioni turistiche o il personale degli impianti di risalita.

Il Sentiero Naturalistico di Macugnaga misura poco più di 20 chilometri, con un dislivello in salita di 1260 metri e altrettanti in discesa. Richiede circa 8 ore effettive di percorso, ossia una decina di ore complessive. È quindi consigliabile dividerlo in due tappe con pernottamento al rifugio Zamboni e Zappa all’alpe Pedriola. Un’altra opzione è quella di percorrere le due (o più) tappe non consecutivamente: esistono infatti diverse possibilità per accorciare il percorso, sia in salita sia in discesa, utilizzando i raccordi che da fondovalle portano al Sentiero Naturalistico partendo da Ronco, da Opaco, da Salzgabe e dall’alpe Burky.
La cache #11
La cache numero 11 è posizionata presso le baite dell’alpe Fillar: i ruderi delle fondamenta del secolare alpeggio, raso al suolo nel 1952 da una valanga, si trovano alla base del dosso erboso su cui si arrampica l’esile traccia che conduce alla Pioda Nera e quindi al rifugio Sella. Il panorama è aperto e maestoso, sempre dominato dalla massiccia parete est del Monte Rosa.
Per raggiungere la cache numero 12, al bivio segnalato sul limitare della lingua glaciale, imboccare il sentiero di destra che conduce in discesa verso Pecetto.

The Macugnaga Nature Trail measures just over 20 kilometers, with an uphill difference in height of 1260 meters and the same downhill. It takes about 8 hours of effective travel, which is a total of about ten hours. It is therefore advisable to divide it into two stages with overnight stay at the Zamboni and Zappa refuge at Alpe Pedriola. Another option is to follow the two (or more) non-consecutive stages: in fact, there are different possibilities to shorten the route, both uphill and downhill, using the connections that from the valley bottom lead to the Naturalistic Path starting from Ronco, from Opaco , from Salzgabe and from the Burky alp.
The cache # 11
The cache number 11 is located near the Alpine hut Fillar: the ruins of the foundations of the centuries-old mountain pasture, razed in 1952 by an avalanche, are located at the base of the grassy hill on which the thin track that leads to the Pioda climbs Nera and then to the Sella refuge. The landscape is open and majestic, always dominated by the massive east face of Monte Rosa.
To reach the cache number 12, at the crossroads signposted on the edge of the glacial tongue, take the right path that leads downhill towards Pecetto.
