About the Schafner Point Lighthouse

Located 11km downstream from Annapolis Royal this light house was constructed in 1885 for $900. The building is a square wooden tower that is painted white. The lighthouse has an attached red iron lantern. The lighthouse measures 43 feet from base to vane. This lighthouse played a key role in the development of the fishing and trading industry in the Annapolis Basin. Locally this lighthouse is commonly referred to as “The Port Royal Lighthouse”.
