The Big Mountain!
Number two or three on the ‘Walking Cwm Planwydd’ trail and the highest cache of the four! Although it is not as high as the name would make you think. At only 698m Mynydd Mawr falls 388m short of the ‘Mynydd Uchaf Cymru’ title.
Known as Yr Eliffant (no prizes for guessing the English) locally because of its apparent resemblance to the animal.
As with most mountains, there are many routes up to the summit, the choice is yours! If you don’t know the few places you can park for free around here, the best car park I would recommend is the Gorsaf Rhyd Ddu Station car park, being at the foot of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) a day’s parking is £6, however it offers a good start for this mountain too.
You’re looking for a small / micro container (probably about the size of a yoghurt pot) it is not within the cairn so please do not search around the structure.
Pob Lwc!
