From “The cache with no name”, GC877XT. descend to the track below the kiln and continue in roughly a northerly direction
You will come to a small limestone outcrop with fantastic views. On a clear day you can see across the Solway Firth to the hills of Southern Scotland, and the lake district hills as well as the Howgills – not to mention the panorama of the Eden Valley, stretching out below. Today, nature has reclaimed this beautiful and peaceful area.
From this cache, continue to A Whale of a Time. Follow the track as it curves uphill between ruined limed kilns. Don’t attempt to “follow the arrow”. Continue along the track to a point just above a small hump from where you can see a wall to your left going in a north easterly direction. Head towards the wall. You will see a broken gate which is low enough to step over easily. (see photos in Whale of a time if you have a dog or are unsure). Follow the track to GZ.
IMPORTANT The landowner /manager has placed notices banning dogs totally on this land. See gallery in CQ 1 or 2 for poster
