Geocache Description:

Welcome to the Knox County Park District GeoTrail

This is Hellbender Preserve located at 23316 Coshocton Road, Howard. The trail to the Preserve begins just past the Kokosing Gap Multi-Use Trail bridge just north of the parking lot. A you locate the entrance to the Park you will follow the Buckeye Grove Loop Trail which meanders around the banks of the Jelloway Creek and the Kokosing Gap Trail. We hope you enjoy searching for our Park Cache as this is just one of the (7) Parks on our newly established GeoTrail. Hellbender Preserve is 15.43 acres. It was named after Ohio's largest and endangered amphibian, the Eastern Hellbenders. The Hellbenders are released periodically in the Kokosing River near the Jelloway Creek. At the trailhead of the Kokosing Gap Trail there is a restroom, Picnic Shelter and Kid's Playground. Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy!  Always bring bug spray or some type of repellant as mosquitoes can be found in any of the parks. Even though our Parks are open 24 hours we highly suggest you do not night cache in any of them.
