Agliano Terme (Ajan in piemontese) è un comune italiano di 1.632 abitanti della provincia di Asti, in Piemonte situato a 263 m s.l.m.).

A circa 19 km da Asti, sorge Agliano, situato su di un colle tra le valli Nizza e del Tiglione in una posizione panoramica. Il suo toponimo, di origine romana, deriva dal gentilizio Allius, e appare per la prima volta nei testi medioevali sin dal 993 come Alljanus, poi come Aglanus.

Il castello di Agliano Terme venne distrutto nella prima metà del Seicento durante la lotta fra il Duca di Savoia e gli Spagnoli per la successione del Monferrato.
Sui ruderi del castello venne edificata la chiesa intitolata a San Pietro, successivamente distrutta nel 1770.
Del possente maniero oggi resta una torre, visitabile e di proprietà dell'acquedotto.
La cima dell'edificio è un punto panoramico privilegiato per osservare le colline della provincia di Asti.

Agliano Terme (Ajan in Piedmontese)is an Italian town of 1.632 inhabitants situated at 263m a.s.l. in the province of Asti, in Piedmont.

About 19 km from Asti, stands Agliano, situated on a hill between the valleys of Nizza Monferrato and Tiglione in a panoramic position. Its toponym, of Roman origin, derives from the noble Allius, and appears for the first time in medieval texts since 993 as Alljanus, then as Aglanus.

The castle of Agliano Terme was destroyed in the first half of the seventeenth century during the struggle between the Duke of Savoy and the Spaniards for the succession of Monferrato.
On the ruins of the castle was built the church dedicated to St. Peter, later destroyed in 1770.
Today of the mighty manor remains a tower.
The top of the building is a privileged vantage point for observing the hills of the province of Asti.

Etwa 19 km von Asti entfernt liegt Agliano auf einem Hügel zwischen den Tälern von Nizza Monferrato und Tiglione in Panoramalage. Sein Toponym, römischen Ursprungs, leitet sich vom edlen Allius ab und erscheint erstmals seit 993 in mittelalterlichen Texten als Alljanus, dann als Aglanus.

Die Burg von Agliano Terme wurde in der ersten Hälfte des 17. Jahrhunderts während des Kampfes zwischen dem Herzog von Savoyen und den Spaniern um die Nachfolge von Monferrato zerstört Auf den Ruinen des Schlosses wurde die Kirche St. Peter errichtet, die 1770 zerstört wurde.
Heute ist das mächtige Herrenhaus ein Turm.
Die Spitze des Gebäudes ist ein privilegierter Aussichtspunkt für die Beobachtung der Hügel der Provinz Asti.
