This CITO / Litter Pick will be between 10am and 12 noon on Saturday 14th September, starting from near the Basketball courts outside the Olympiad Leisure Centre, Chippenham. You are welcome to help for part of the time or throughout, we will have a group photo at the end of the event. We will be doing a litter pick through Monkton Park in support of the GAGB’s CITO week, and you will also qualify for the Geocaching Autumn season CITO souvenir
The nearest parking is the pay and display parking at the Olympiad car park. There is limited free on-street parking around the residental area of Monkton park, if you use this then please park respecting the residents.
I am grateful to the local group http://blog.off-the-ground.org/ for having done the hard work of arranging equipment and facilities for this CITO. Please post your intention to attend to allow us to have the right quantity of equipment. Litter picks and bags will be provided, please bring gloves if you want to use these. There is a health and safety form from off-the-ground which will need to be completed and signed before taking part at the starting point (if you have previously completed one then you won’t need to complete another).
SAFETY: During the CITO you may come across hazardous materials or situations. If in doubt, do not touch but record the coordiantes using your GPS and report it to the organisers. Hazardous materials could include needles, broken glass, barbed wire, heavy objects, dog waste etc. Hazardous situations could include slippery and unlevel ground, the adjacent river, trip hazards, slopes etc. You take part at your own risk and must sign the form before starting.
Children and dogs are welcome at the event but are the responsibility of the parent / owner. Dogs should be on a lead. Please consider safety (especially relative to the adjacent river) and other park users.
The GAGB

The Geocaching Association of Great Britain (GAGB). The Association was established in 2003 to provide a national geocaching organisation and serve as a UK point of contact for geocachers, landowners, the media and others with an interest in geocaching.
As part of its 10th anniversary, it was decided to hold a CITO weekend in September which has now become an annual event. It would be great to see more of these icons pop up across the country and for other members to hold their own events where it is not feasible to attend one that a committee member has organised.

There is a lot more information about what we do, including the landowner database, comprehensive event listings and forums at www.gagb.org.uk. If you would like to get involved follow the link and find our contact details.
The GAGB are encouraging everyone to organise CITO events this weekend, in part to pay-back for what we hope will have been a great summer of caching, and also to make things more pleasant for future cachers. If this CITO is the nearest one to you, please come along. |
More information could well be announced, so either keep watch on the listing or log your "Will Attend" to make sure you receive the announcement logs.
