Ostoja obejmuje dolinę rzeki Kostrzyń oraz przyległe lasy łęgowe i olsy porzeczkowe. Typowy dla tej ostoi jest krajobraz antropogeniczny ze stawami hodowlanymi. W ostoi występują też niewielkie fragmenty krajobrazu rolniczego z polami uprawnymi i łąkami położonymi w bezpośrednim sąsiedztwie rzeki. Lokalnie dobrze zachowane zostały również płaty torfowisk niskich. W ostoi stwierdzono występowanie 20 gatunków ptaków wymienionych w załączniku I Dyrektywy Ptasiej. 3 gatunki zostały zamieszczone na liście zagrożonych ptaków w Polskiej czerwonej księdze zwierząt. Występują tu m.in.: bąk, bielik, orlik krzykliwy, derkacz, rybitwa czarna i zielonka.
Z miejsca ukrycia kesza rozlega się malownicza panorama na doline rzeki i pobliskie łąki.
The refuge includes the valley of the Kostrzyń river and adjacent riparian forests and blackcream alder forests. Typical for this refuge is the anthropogenic landscape with ponds. In the refuge there are also small fragments of agricultural landscape with arable fields and meadows located in the immediate vicinity of the river. Locally, peat bogs have also been well preserved. In the refuge, 20 species of birds listed in Annex I of the Birds Directive were found. Three species have been placed on the list of endangered birds in the Polish Red Book of Animals. There are, among others: bąk, white-tailed eagle, lesser spotted eagle, corncrake, black tern and green fodder.
From the hiding place of the cache, there is a picturesque panorama of the river valley and the nearby meadows.
