Let's celebrate trees! Since 1999, Reforest the Bluegrass has brought hundreds of volunteers together to plant thousands of trees on one day in April. Over the program’s history, an estimated 16,000 volunteers have planted 142,000 trees.

Trees improve air quality by taking carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Trees lower outside temperatures during warm days and mitigate erosion during rainfall. Our city has spent the last couple of decades expanding the size of our tree canopy through planting events like Reforest the Bluegrass. In 2019, the 20th anniversary, approximately 6,000 trees were planted at Masterson Station Park. Exactly 500 trees were planted at Hisle Park at a Branching Out event.

This cache is hidden within Hisle Farm Park. This park is open from 8 am until dark. Hisle Farm Park is approximately 280 acres of rolling pasture land located five miles northeast of downtown Lexington. The park also boasts a shared use trail. The trails system features two trails, 1 and 2.5 miles in length, and is open to horse riders and hikers. Bicycles are not permitted. Pets are welcome but must be leashed.
