The cache is just off a fairly well marked trail and easily accessible; follow the light blue blaze marks. Though the trail isn't often traveled, watch out for unintended observers and please hide the cache VERY WELL. Watch out for poison ivy in the summer, as well.
This is a Civil War theme cache stored in a cammo colored (modern, not period) ammo box. Please feel free to trade non-CW items if that's all you have, We'll periodically restock the Civil War items. The cache includes threeCivil War books and we encourage folks to read and keep them or trade them for your favorite Civil War book. As a bonus for one of the first teams to find the cache, we've included a book signed by the author and dedicated to the cache-finder!
While you're geocaching, please explore the Civil War Clash at Blackburn's Ford. This was the first major skirmish of the Civil War (19 July, 1861) and was General Longstreet's first fight. You'll start your trek by covering the ground on which the 1st Massachusetts Infantry tried to attack the Confederates across the run. Look down from their position and imagine if YOU could be made to launch an attack on the other side!
