Independence Rock was one my favorite stops in the Oregon Trail computer game. After working so hard to ensure your digital family stayed alive, there was nothing better than taking a stop at Independance Rock. Here you could trade for goods, fix your wagon, and always shoot more food than you could carry back to your wagon. After that you made your way to South Pass, and beyond.
Now that my Digital family has been analog for decades, it was nice to come to live action Independence Rock and kick back a spell. As in my video game days, this rest stop is the best place to chill. Not only are there great walking trails, picnic tables, barbecue pits, but they have, above all the cleanest bathrooms on the road. Take all the time you need to enjoy this centuries old stop, and enjoy the cache.
