Wagon Watching Traditional Cache

Placed in Old National Pike District Park as a bonus for the 2019 MGS Summer Picnic. Find a marked parking spot for your cache retrieval vehicle (CRV) and walk to GZ. From GZ, you would have been able to watch a lot of horse-drawn wagons pass by in the past. Today, those "wagons" have many, many more horses. You'll be overlooking the Old National Pike, which carried early cart, horse, & wagon traffic between Baltimore and points west, including the wild west of today's Western Maryland mountains and beyond. Nearby, you'll even find a weathered stone mile marker for the Old Pike, though it's condition is not what it used to be. Placed with permission of Frederick County Department of Parks & Recreation. Park is open 8am to sunset.
