In checking this cache out to repair/replace clue #2 I discovered that the entire set of clues and puzzles needs to be redone. Of the 6 clues only the 1st and 5th remain. With missing trees, fences & playground I will have to make new puzzles and clues. Also although the final cache was still intact and dry the dead tree where it was originally located was on the ground and the cache very difficult to extract, so that location too will need to be changed. I will try to re-do the entire thing in the next week or so. PLEASE STAND-BY FOR UPDATES
Hopefully, this is a little different, and fun, but NOT difficult. The area is wetter and bushier than when I first placed the cache in 2002, and I have added some steps, so I have increased the rating for both difficulty and terrain by 0.5. Depending on the time of the year you may be faced with water, mud or snow in some areas of the park so dress accordingly! The park was dry when I first placed the cache but was very wet in the spring of 2004. The clues should be accessible regardless.
Since this is a very small park it is not maintained during the cold months so the gate is kept closed. The park is managed by the Northfield Township Police. In 2003 a Sgt Jensen assured me that using the park for legitimate purposes when the gate is locked, during the day (8 AM-dusk) by parking outside the gate and walking in is not a problem. Hunting is NEVER allowed.
The clues are now located in such a way that they should be available in any weather condition 12 months of the year. Please do not move or remove them, just make a note of the info. The final cache is a clear plastic container inside of a black bag and wrapped with a bungee cord. The cache items are mostly PUZZLE related, so please leave puzzle-themed items in return for any that you take. If people are using the park, please be discreet. You should take these instructions with you to attempt this cache. Good luck, and have fun!
STEP 1The starting coordinates will take you to an object with text. Within the text, you will see THREE single-digit numbers. Call the first number X, call the second number YCall the third number Z.
Therefore
X=____
Y=____
Z=____
Then do the following additional arithmetic problems:
Take Z, multiply by 42, then add X and Y = ____, call this D
X minus 7 = ____, call this A
Y minus 4 = ____, call this B
Z plus 2 = ____, call this C
STEP 2
Start from just behind the object in Step 1, go:
On a heading of ABC (where ABC is a three-digit number),
for a distance of D feet (approximately)
Find the clue. This is easier than it sounds.
STEP 3
Close to the coordinates found in Step 4 is a vertex. From the vertex go X(from STEP 1) evenly spaced units E (or ENE) to find the clue (reminder: you do not need to ever leave the park for this cache).
STEP 6
Go to the coordinates found in STEP 5 and find the final cache!
