Geocache Description:

Once again...a rest stop that USED to have a geocache that eventually got archived.  I just couldn't let this rest stop with one of the BEST views of our gorgeous Mission Mountains go without a reason to make geocachers stop and take a look. Have no fear on which way you are traveling because you can enter either rest area and drive under the highway to get to the other side and back again! Both rest areas are linked by a road that runs under the highway.

There is a wonderful photo op here, especially on a blue sky day! I know several people who after rounding the top of this Ravalli Hill, moved to this valley to live for the rest of their lives! They are that powerful. These mountains, The Missions, are a section of the Rocky Mountain Range that runs 3000 miles North to South.  At its Southern most point the Rockies are in New Mexico, Arizona, Utah and Colorado and it's Northern US end it goes through Wyoming, Idaho and Montana.  They also go north into Alberta, Canada.

The Rockies are inhabitied by wonderful and unique plants, birds and animals.  Mammals that call the Rockies home are Grizzly Bears, Black Bears, Mountain Lions, Mountain Goats, Big Horn Sheep, Moose, Elk, Mule Deer, White Tail Deer, Wolves, Badgers, Wolverines, Marmot, muskrats, squirrels, gophers, pika, rabbits, otters, and beavers.

Always be on the watch for rattlesnakes too!  Please post photos of the Mountains on your visit to the geocache with your log.
