They have played to stadiums filled with tens of thousands of fans all the way down to 1 person at a Valentine's dance. Yep, 1 person. Legend has it they were hired very early in their career to play a Valentine's dance and only 1 person showed up. The poor dude didn't have a date on Valentine's Day. Being under age at that time, the boys couldn't buy him a beer, so they bought him a Coke. Years later, the guy returned the favor by buying the band beers when they met again. Great bar story for the guy: How I had my own private concert from ZZ Top!
Join me in celebrating 50 years (February 1969) of some of the greatest driving music ever. Let's head out to that home on the range, with the windows down, the radio cranked up and jamming to Billy, Dusty & Frank and grab some caches! And maybe...just maybe...on a long, lonely highway, out of the corner of your eye, you'll hear the growl of a small block Chevy, the flash of red from a '33 Ford Coupe and three dusty guys give you a wave as you reach for that hidden cache.
