Madrona trees just do not like to stand up straight, probably causing their mother much dismay. This cache is at a prime example of the madrone lean and is located across from a favorite pullover spot. Commercial vehicles can often be seen here as their drivers take in the view and rest or have lunch. Eagles are common here and on rare occasions whales can be seen in Penn Cove.
At the pullover you can see the history of the loves (or lack thereof in some cases!) of Coupeville etched into a rather octopus looking madrone. PLEASE DON'T ADD TO THE HISTORY!
Update 1/16/22: the tree is leaning so much it is beginning to pull up its own roots! The cache is NOT in the holes created, so don't go poking around in them.
