Peterson Park was once a road side rest area. It is one of three parks along State Route 42 that make up the Indian Mound Reserve. The others are of course the Indian Mound park and the Falls park just outside the village of Cedarville.
This park is probably the least visited of the three areas, but has its own little piece of history. It was one of the first road side rest areas in the state. Today, most of these rest stops have been destroyed or abandoned. The rest area of today is more likely to be found on major interstates and much farther apart than the ones from the past.
The cache itself is a simple plastic container and hidden in the usual manner. In the summer, maybe you can enjoy a nice picnic here and take a hike from here all the way down to the falls and back.
