Geocache Description:

Above Gold Hill. Can be driven to. At an elevation of 8429 feet.

A site of minor historical importance. But what has been done to it is interesting. A name on the stone has been chipped away twice. The name that has been chipped away is Col John M. Chivington, the hero of Glorieta Pass and the butcher of Sand Creek.

Whoever chipped the name off the stone should realize you can't change history or erase it by removing a name. The monument is now a monument to one persons ignorance.

Do a little research about the Sand Creek massacre, and see how ignorance possibly delayed the admittance of Colorado into the United States, not to mention the inhumanity.

To claim your find, email me who erected the monument and the date. For extra credit, send the name of the idiot that chipped away the name.
