Geocache Description:

Welcome to Shamokin!  This is an area I grew up in and I have many friends and family still in town.

Celebrating Shamokin and it's greatness I have crafted a walking tour of the murals showing some of Shamokin's history.  I parked by the post office (close to Mural #1) when creating this cache and walked town.  Growing up here this is a very walkable town and you can get from one side to the other in less then a mile or two.  This cache should take you about an hour or two from start to finish depending if you get hungry and want to stop to eat.  Restaurants can be found throughout this tour, some that have been around for decades and some that are recently new and have some Shamkoin history inside.

Please share your experiences in Shamokin during this walking tour.  The information needed from the murals to sove the final are not visible on any pictures (ok, maybe 1 or 2) but the rest will require you to look arond close to the GZ of each mural for the information needed to solve the final.

The final can be found at:

N 40 4A.BCD  W 076 3G.HIJ

There are 6 murals and 8 answers to discover along your journey so be sure to read about all information needed from the murals to lessen the amount of backtracking you may have to do.

This is super kid friendly (Always watch for cars and trucks crossing any intersection of course); handicap accessible I believe even though I put it at a 2.5 terrain (mostly for distance but you can drive to all locations and there is public sidewalks next to all locations and clues.

A = Mural #5 - Look across the street as are you are getting ready to head to Mural #6.  You will see 2 blue benches.  A = Number of letters in the second word of either blue bench plus 1.

B = Mural #3 - What hour is it on the clock? (Easiest one)

C = Mural #2 - On the nearest parking meter to the mural, If the number starts with N then C = 1, If the number starts with E then C = 2, If the number starts with S then C = 3, If the number starts with W then C = 4.

D = Mural #6 - On the nearest parking metere to the mural.  If the number starts with A then D = 7, If the number starts with B then D = 8, If the number starts with C then D = 9, If the number starts with E then D = 0.

G = Mural #5 - How many balloons is the boy with ice cream holding?

H = Mural #6 - Across the street from Mural #6 is the Independence Fire Station restaurant.  On the back side of the Independence if you were walking from mural #5 (hint; walking from towards #6 on the sidewalk), and in the Shamokin Creek you will see 4 very large numbers etched in the concrete wall.  What is the last number?

I = Mural #4 - How many roller coast cars are zipping along the top of the roller coaster track?

J = Mural #1 - Look at the train crossing sign.  There are 6 large numbers on the train signal.  What is the 4th number?

All items are in public spaces and this is very walkable, even to the final.  There are probably a couple more murals around however these are in the major areas I wanted to highlight.

If you enjoyed, please share comments and/or favorite point the cache to let other cachers know.
