Geocache Description:

The Eagle's Nest, home of Royal Riblet, is now known as the Arbor Crest Winery Cliff House. This is an ADULTS ONLY cache due to the winery rules, and remember that the grounds are only open from Noon - 5PM daily.

Royal N. Riblet was a tramway designer, inventor, and bicycle racer - he actually held several titles. In 1924 and 1925 he built his clifftop mansion. For 32 years the only approach to the house was via the tramway, on a 1600 foot cable that crossed the Spokane River.
When the house was built it was considered the most electrified house in the United States, including amenities such as electric heat and a refrigerator.
Riblet invented several items, including tramways, special scaffolds, unique wheel designs, sprinkler systems, and the Lexington car.
The grounds remain much the same as when Riblet lived here, featuring a pool, some of his inventions, and a life sized checkerboard.
Bring a picnic lunch and buy a bottle of wine, or enjoy a loaf of bread and a block of cheese, available at the tasting room.
To log this cache, post a photo of yourself at the site, including your GPS in the photo, or alternately, answer this question - What Riblet invention is displayed that would revolutionize agriculture if widely adopted? Don't post your answer here, even if encrypted. **** The item described is placed into storage during the winter months to protect it from the elements. All of the employees at the winery know what the invention is, all you need to do is ask!
