historical marker
this is how this town came to be. mail me with the year it was
built, by whom, and what road this marker is erected on. the answer
is not "swinging bridge road"; but if you followed "swinging bridge
road" in the town's early years, it would take you across the
cumberland river via a swinging bridge. that bridge is gone and was
been replaced with first one steel girder and now two bridges. this
site...

... has an even older history of the immediate area. update: after
reading buell's history of andrew jackson, i have learned that
andrew and rachel's first home together (poplar grove) was very
near this spot...before the hadley's, before the information on
this sign... ~~don't post these answers on the page to log as a
find.
