I've explored putting a cache near here several times. One of the Border Patrol caches used to be closer to the train tracks. I don't know if we could get it published there now. I wanted to put a container closer to the river, but there is wildlife habitat and restoration along the stream and corn field. I thought about putting a larger container here in the rocks, but I really would be concerned about reaching into places. I consider snakes a real possibility. Plus, the area has flooded recently fairly high.
So this is a black bison tethered to a maple tree. I did not see any poison ivy when I placed it on July 11. So if you see poison ivy on the tree, maybe you are looking at the wrong tree. I stepped off the trail onto rocks not grass.
As I drove out of the park, I encountered a black rat snake in the road, parked my car with its emergency flashers, and herded it off the road. I think this is a link to the video on Facebook.
June 2021 update: video of a juvenile black rat snake I herded up a tree at our Cub Scout meeting last night.
