North America's Worst Bus Stop
In late 2018, StreetsBlog USA held a contest for readers to submit entries for terrible bus stops in the United States and Canada, and then vote on them in a tournament bracket to decide which was North America's worst bus stop. In the end, the bus stop located down the street from this cache was crowned the worst.

This sorry excuse for a bus stop reached the final round and defeated a bus stop in Cincinnati to claim the dubious title. As this lone individual in the image demonstrates, the bus stop was haphazardly placed on the side of the road, which was lined with road barricades (Jersey treats), and no benches or ammenities of any sort were installed. Groups of people could be seen awkwardly sitting on top of the barricades while they waited for the bus to come. When the bus finally arrived, passengers would have to climb up and over the barricade before they could board the bus.
Either that, or passengers could stand directly in the bicycle lane, in danger of being hit by a bicyclist or a careless driver. But, what about elderly or disabled passengers? People who couldn't climb over the barricades. These individuals would have to enter the bike lane at the intersection and walk/wheelchair along the bike lane to the stop itself. Many locals called it "an accident waiting to happen."
Thankfully, not long after the contest was concluded, the sorry state of the bus stop was brought to the attention of the Ministry of Transportation, and has recently been upgraded. One of the barricades was removed and the surrounding ones filed down to make a more aestetically-pleasing waiting point.
It's still not very good. There's still nowhere to sit and wait except on the uncomfortable barricades, which might be too tall for some individuals to sit on, but it's a lot better than it once was.
