Geocache Description:

The cache is not at the posted coordinates.

The coordinates can be obtained whilst reading this summary:

FIRST, consider the rotation of the Earth.

Earth’s radius is about 6400 km and the circumference of the small circle at a given latitude is given by

C = 2ℼr × cosθ

At our latitude of about 34°, circumference is about 33 220 km, and dividing by 24 we obtain a speed of about 1384 km/h.

Now let’s consider the speed of Earth’s movement about the Sun.

The distance from the Sun is about 149.6 million kilometres on average, as we have an elliptical orbit.

It takes 365.256 days to complete an orbit (sidereal year).

Omitting the working, our speed around the Sun is about 107 000 km/h.

Our galaxy, The Milky Way, is a spiral galaxy with four major arms. The radius is about 52 850 light years. Earth is about 26 400 light years from the galactic centre. There is a rotational speed that could be considered. However, of more significance is the galaxy’s movement through space. Which has been calculated by scientists to be 551 km/s which equals about 2.0 million km/h.

We could also consider the expansion rate of the universe which apparently is only about 68 km/s or 245100 km/h

Does anyone feel dizzy?

The cache is a concealed bison tube. Unfortunately, it has not been placed in a thematic location. But it is still a nice location with a pleasant walk to it.

Apologies if the data happens to be inaccurate. The purpose of the cache is purely for some learning, some exercise, and, of course, the excitement of racing to a FTF, or just adding to your tally of finds.

GZ is in the Camden Equestrian Park. There is a gravel walking trail that can be followed for most of the way. Please be aware that equestrian events may be in progress. Most events only use a small part of the Park. Occasionally there is a larger scale event that involves the whole park. Such as the EEA CNC Competition which used the “whole grounds.” It is probably best to avoid caching here when this occurs. This information can be viewed on the website below.

Also, don’t turn up when the Camden Show is on (March or April). Check the following website for a calendar of events:

You can park on Cawdor Rd, near the park entrance. (see TH coordinates) There are two entrances only about 40m apart.

Congratulations to Gundrills, Macka4867, KnightJR and Panda Girl65 for the FTF. Also , thanks for their appreciative logs showing their enjoyment of geocaching,
