Geocache Description:

This geocache is located at 3505 NW Oakcrest Drive in Kansas City, also known as where Monkdds4 lives. At the cache site is a small statue of Francis of Assisi, the Patron Saint of Animals. He is the founder of what became known as the Franciscan order and is one of the most venerated figures in Christian history.

Unusually at peace with nature, several accounts of Francis's interactions with animals were later taken as evidence for his canonization as a Saint.

Reading from these accounts in the "Fioretti," one finds an episode featuring Francis and a fearsome wolf.

The wolf, which had so terrified the townspeople as to flee in fear, closed its jaws and lay at Francis' feet when he made the sign of the cross.

Later images of Saint Francis show him surrounded by birds which, according to legend, would follow him around, intrigued at the sound of his voice.

Entering the front lawn, you will find a locked mailbox. It's not actually used for mail, so don't worry about that. One of St. Francis's animals has what you need to access the container. There are a few trinkets inside to trade. Feel free to park in the driveway if there's room. If we're home, we'd love to meet you. Please do not try this cache at night.
