Geocache Description:

CRUGMEER: Military aerodrome (Aka RAF PADSTOW and TREVOSE HEAD)

Military users: RAF (Royal Air Force) and RNAS (Royal Naval Air Service)

RAF Marine Operations Station

Period of operation: March 1918 to March 1919

Site area: 50 acres 457 x 503

Originally intended to be a RNAS aerodrome when under construction in February 1918 but handed over to the RAF in May when it opened.

It appears that this airfield was used mainly for maritime patrol duties.

But, as virtually no enemy threat would have been evident, I wonder what was the purpose of these patrols?
