THE CACHE IS NOT AT THE POSTED COORDINATES! THE COORDINATES LISTED ARE FOR PARKING PURPOSES ONLY!
For my first hide, I wanted to dedicate a cache to an area that means so much to me, more than I ever realized.
I have lived in Denville for the entirety of my life, and one thing I recall well is my elementary school years. My favorite part of the school day (and for a fact, almost everyone else's favorite part of the day) was recess. I loved being able to go outside and run around with my friends.
Toward the end of each year that I attended Riverview Elementary School, we would have a field day event where there would be games and activities for us to do. After about three hours or so, our classes would all walk down to a little pavilion and have a barbeque. I remember taking in the rays of the sun and looking around to see the beautiful memorials that surrounded the area. I appreciated the amount of work that has been put into remembering people who fought for our country bravely. Most of these monuments have nice little flower beds around them and are nice to visit in the Summer time.
This cache will take you down the path I once walked in my childhood and to a site I have made so many great memories. Please stay on the path, as it will take you through the entirety of the puzzle. Once at GZ, only utilize the hint if your geo-senses are failing you. Please BYOP and hide it back as well as you can in it's original spot! Speaking of the puzzle, here are some questions for you to answer along the path:
Solve the missing coordinate points by answering questions to fill in the missing gaps:
N40 53.ACD W074 29.B
(A). Start your walk toward the first pavilion off to your right. On the left side of the staircase you will see a little plaque. What is the last digit of the year that the pavilion was dedicated?
i. 4
ii. 2
iii. 9
(B). Continue on the path and you will come across a miniature flower bed with a bigger plaque behind it. In his memorial, how many shipmates perished alongside Robert D. Kearny? (Once you find the answer, subtract 14 from it).
i. 154
ii. 129
iii. 142
iv. 173
(C). Go past the memorial, down the hill of the path and you will arrive to the site where I used to have barbeques when I was in elementary school. How many support beams are used for the pavilion? (Once you find the answer, divide that answer by 10).
i. 12
ii. 20
iii. 16
(D). Walking toward the front of this same pavilion, you will see a set of names engraved on the ground that is under this pavilion. Facing the names in front of you, whose name is in the middle?
i. Nick = 3
ii. Danielle = 0
iii. Frank = 4
iv. Mike = 6
