First time travelers to Wichita Falls often ask “What are those little buildings at the traffic intersections?” At the published date there are twelve of these ornamental structures across the city which are part of the city’s median beautification program. The structures hide the bright stainless-steel traffic signal control boxes and help to create a friendly environment for people as they travel thru the city.
This cooperative project with the Traffic Control Division has proven to be a success for all parties. The structures help to significantly cool the control boxes which increases signal reliability and reduces maintenance costs. This is a series of caches for you to enjoy these "Little Buildings" as you tour the Wichita Falls area.
THE LANTERN HOUSE - 1992

The primary entrance to Lucy Park at Seymour Hwy. & Sunset Dr. was chosen as the site for the 6th structure. The area was somewhat confined, but turned out to be a great location for one of the division's colorful structures and landscaping projects.
