Geocache Description:

The geocache IS NOT LOCATED AT THE POSTED!

But it is a short distance away.

All you have to do to find the actual coordinates, is to successfully navigate Lake Okeechobee below. If you do, the coordinates will reveal themselves to you, north coordinates first, then west coordinates.

But first, a little about Lake Okeechobee.

Okeechobee City and Okeechobee County were both names after Lake Okeechobee, and Lake Okeechobee gets it's name from some of Florida's early Native Americans. Okeechobee actually means "Big Water"

It has many nick names, including The Big Lake, Lake O, The Big O, Chobee, Okee, and The Inland Sea.

It covers over 730 square miles, and to circumnavigate the lake by car, you will travel approximately 108 miles.

Lake Okeechobee is the 2nd largest freshwater lake located wholely within the continental United States.

The lake is very shallow by comparison to other lakes its size, and averages about 9 feet deep.

It is surrounded by approximately 135 miles of a 35 foot high dike built after the Hurricane of 1928. A hurricane in which experts estimate about 2500 people perrished due to an over 6 foot storm surge flooding the surrounding areas.

Today, Lake Okeechobee is considered the speckled perch capital of the world, and the town has an annual festival celebrating it.

Now that you know a little more about Lake Okeechobee, let's see if you can find your way through it and find the coordinates to the cache!
