Geocache Description:

17 August 2019, 16:30 - 17:30

A little event to celebrate International Geocaching Day 2019 for all local as well as visiting cachers. We welcome new cachers, don't be shy. Teddington Lock is a beautiful and fun place to watch the boats go by and see the lock in action. This is the location of the Fish Slapping Dance made famous by the Monty Python crew. Join us for some geochat and bring your trackables for discovering and/or moving on.

There are picnic tables and benches on the island and hopefully we can manage to gather at one of them. It might not be exactly at the given coordinates, but the island isn't that big. I'll update on our exact location in an announcement here on the cache page. In order to access the island you need to cross over one of the lock gates, so you may have to wait a few minutes if it is in use at the time. There is free parking on either side of the river, but you need to walk a little bit to get to the island. There is also free parking by the river at Ham House if you want to combine the event with a nice walk along the towpath. Public transport is available on both sides of the river as well.
