Geocache Description:

Welcome to the Berkeley Aquatic Park. This is a great place for walking, running, biking, absorbing the sun, observing wildlife, and climbing trees.

I recently discovered this park while geocaching, and quickly found that it has an abundance of climbing trees. An idea for a multicache of epic proportions began forming in my mind, and now it has come to fruition.

This is a 15 stage multicache. In order to sign the log, you will need to climb a total of 15 trees and walk or bike 2.5 miles. It is very likely that people will have very strong feelings about this cache after they have attempted it, either anger toward the cache, or love toward the great climbing trees in the park.

That said, if you have little or no experience climbing trees, this is probably not the cache for you. Please make safety your first priority. (Fun should be your second priority, signing the log your third) If there is a tree that you are not comfortable climbing, please do not attempt to climb it. Some of these stages are at heights where falls could be dangerous. It is also not advised to attempt this cache at night or in wet conditions. Please respect park rules and do not attempt this between the hours of 10pm-6am.

This cache is not for everyone and it is very possible you will get to the GZ and decide you will have to let this one go.  Neither I nor geocaching.com are liable for any injuries that may result from an unprepared pursuit of this cache! Please only attempt to retrieve the cache if you feel physically up for the challenge. (credit: hrc333)

Please do not share the coordinates of any of the stages with other people. Half (14/15?) of the adventure is in the hunt, signing the log is just the reward at the end.

Each stage will have a one inch diameter dog tag that is zip-tied to the tree. These tags will have 8 numbers, in the form X.XXX, Y.YYY. These digits can be entered as coordinates in the form N 37 5X.XXX W 122 1Y.YYY in order to find the next stage.

At N 37 51.024 W 122 17.931, there is a good gauge to see whether this cache will be doable for you. If you can climb the tree at these coordinates, there is a good chance you will be able to climb the rest of the trees. But be warned, many of the climbs are more difficult than this one. To reiterate, there is no physical cache at these coordinates, this is just a test tree.

Your search begins at Stage 1, where you will climb a tree and literally be above the water. Good luck.
