Geocache Description:

Scouting Builds Ethics and Character

As youth, Scouts are taught to live by a code of conduct exemplified in the 12 points of the Scout Law, and they continue to live by these laws in adulthood. The Scout Law has 12 points. Each is a goal for every Scout. A Scout tries to live up to the Law every day. It is not always easy to do, but a Scout always tries.

A Scout is…

TRUSTWORTHY

LOYAL

HELPFUL

FRIENDLY

COURTEOUS

KIND

OBEDIENT

CHEERFUL

THRIFTY

BRAVE

CLEAN

REVERENT

Eagle Scout is the highest rank that a scout can earn.  Earning the rank of Eagle Scout requires a scout to plan, lead, and complete a community service project. Each Geocache in this series will take you to a different Eagle Scout project that was completed by a local scout.  My father and I are both very involved in scouts as well as being avid geocachers. I myself am an eagle scout. We wanted to create a series that honored many of my friends and fellow eagle scouts.  Many of these projects we personally worked on to help these scouts finish their project and earn the rank of Eagle.

This cache is the tenth of the series and represents the Tenth Point of the Scout Law...BRAVE! This cache is placed in honor of the Eagle Scout Project of a scout from Troop 208 who built and installed the turtle enclosure in the Monarch Way Station at the Stoney Creek Nature Center. The posted coordinates will take you to this project. This cache was placed with permission of the Stoney Creek Metro Parks.

The coordinates of the final cache are N 42 45.ABC W 083 04.XYZ. To solve the puzzle you will need to answer the following questions when you arrive at the posted coordinates:

A = The number of posts on Monarch Way Station gateway Plus 1.

B = The number of rain barrels in use PLUS 2.

C = The number of benches with metal legs around nearby fire bowl.

X = First number of Nature Center Daily Closing time.

Y = The number of fire rings nearby.

Z = Subtract the number of letters in scout's last name on nearby rock for walkway Eagle Project from the number of letters in his first name.

The cache is located within the Stoney Creek Metropark. Hours are 6:00 am to 8:00 pm daily. A Metro Parks permit is required: $10 daily pass, $35 annual pass, $21 annual senior pass. All park rules and regulations apply. Park in parking lots only.

We hope you enjoy this series as much as we did in creating it.  We hope to challenge and entertain you in the process.  Please respect the area and other visitors.  Please replace all stages to their original positions.
