Capt. George Vancouver's Lost Treasure Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

DnDLootz: This cache was muggled...

We loved all of the comments and smiles this cache has made.
Unfortunately, it was placed in a seasonal area.
Heavy rains caused the ground to become saturated with mud.
We are going to search for a more suitable place.
So, we have decided to Archive this spot.
Thank you all!

Geocache Description:

Legend has it

Captain George Vancouver hid his treasures in the Puget Sound.

Vancouver, B.C. was named after him.

The treasures were from his 1791-1795 expedition to explore the new world.

One of his ships the HMS Discovery became overburdened with a fortune of treasures.

He decided along with his closest officers to hide their cache in a secluded cove.

They hoped to some day return and claim their bounty.

His closest officers and business partners were...

2nd lieutenant Peter Puget
*Puget Sound
3rd Lieutenant Joseph Baker
*Mount Baker
Rear Admiral Peter Rainier.
*Mount Rainier
Naval engineer Joseph Whidbey.
*Whidbey island

In 1794 they ended their expedition off the west coast of America due to time restraint and resources.

In 1795 they were forced to return to Great Britain without their hard earned fortune.

The lost treasure is thought to be hidden some where in the Des Moines area of the Puget Sound.

Congratulations to 2nd1of3 on such a quick FTF!!
